Our Engagement Session

Our Engagement Session ❤️

Yay yay yay!!! Nathan and I got our engagement pictures back and we are dying to share our favorites! Our amazing photographer, Ashtyn took us to Sunset Point. It was about a hour away and when we got there Nathan and I realized that we had stopped there coming home from my first trip to Utah together! It’s a rest stop that has a beautiful view scenery!

I was extremely worried about how these pictures would turn out. I couldn’t find anything to wear until about two days before the session and we picked out Nathan’s outfit the night before. Talk about stress. After seeing her amazing work, the stress was over. Our engagement pictures turned out amazing (If I say so myself)!!

Both Nathan and I have so many favorites and have looked at them so many times. Nathan, who hates photos did an amazing job smiling and being a great model. So without further a do, SCROLL DOWN AND CHECK OUT OUR PHOTOS!!!

While The Parents Are Away, The Kids Will Play

My oh my was this week a crazy adventure! While my parents were out of town in paradise, Nathan and I experienced our own adventure.

This year is year two of a momma duck hatching her eggs in our yard. We hadn’t seen her in a while so none of us really knew when they could be coming. Well  on Tuesday night as Nathan and I went to my house to check on Christy, we found 7 little ducklings all swimming with their mom. One of the duckings unfortunately did not make it and was left in our filter. Adventure #1, getting the duckling out of the filter while there is a massive spider making his web right above it. Our solution involved pouring water into the filter so the spider would climb out. From there Nate killed it (it was really big) and we proceeded to think of a plan to get the small dead duckling out. We were able to find small pieces of cardboard to lift it out and put it in a bag. The poor little duckling 🙁

It wasn’t the only adventure that occurred that day for me. The same day that something special happened to that momma, I had something shocking happen to me. I went to work on that Tuesday thinking it was a normal day of work. It was until half way through my work day. Me and three others on my team (along with many others from different departments) were laid off. It was unexpected and shocking. I didn’t know what to think or even what to do other than start looking for other jobs. Luckily, I have until the 20th there and have enough money to get me through until I find another full time job. While all this was happening, I thought about how this wasn’t a horrible time for this to happen. I am finishing up my masters program and have family coming to town next week. Plus I have to start looking for wedding gowns! When one door closes another one opens!

It wasn’t until Thursday when we had another big adventure. When I got home from work I noticed a small duckling scared, calling for his mom in the pool. His mom and siblings had left about 48 hours ago and he was alone. Nathan and I scooped him up (it wasn’t easy since he was so scared and tried to run from us) and tried to feed him. We didn’t know what to do with the duckling but we knew that we had to do something. He couldn’t survive on his own being a new baby duckling. We called my cousin Stephanie who has a farm and she came to pick him up (after he ran into a bush and wouldn’t come out). We named him Douglas and he now has a new home where people love him!

I didn’t need anymore adventures for the week after that. I felt like my week had been busy enough. Saturday was the last night I was alone and guess what? Yup, Nathan and I did another adventure! In the morning we went to the Gilbert Farmers Market where we walked around, got Dutch Bros, and then ate breakfast at the Hen House! It was a fun adventure that we enjoyed. That was until we got home. My poor little pup (16 year old) Christy just smelled like pee. She had been peeing her bed and just sitting in it. It made me so sad to see but something needed to be done. So we strapped her into the car and drove her to get groomed! She was the happiest thing when we picked her up  and smelled like coconut!

While this week was super busy and quite a grown up experience, I was able to count on Nathan to help me. I was able to see what life was going to be like with him as my husband. Heck, I am so excited and ready to be his wife! I cannot wait to do more hectic, crazy, adventures with him for the rest of my life!

P.S. I officially applied for graduation yesterday! I will be finished July 12th and will walk in December with Nathan! The end is near!!!

Wedding Wednesday

WEDDING WEDNESDAY

I am so excited to get married and I love sharing updates with all my friends and family about our special day! With only 10 more months until we tie the knot, there is a lot to do! So without further ado, here are a few updates!

VENUE: First thing was first, we had to pick the venue. We went to a few venues before we picked the one. The first one was too fancy. It was big and grand and that was something that Nathan and I just didn’t like. The second venue I liked but was worried that there would be problems with children around the massive pool. It was pretty but it just still didn’t feel like the one. The third time was a charm. After we were there, I kept thinking about the venue. I kept imagining our wedding there. I knew this was going to be the place where I got married to my best friend.

Information on the Venue
Name: Las Sendas
Website: http://www.thetrailhead.org/
Location: 7900 East Eagle Crest Drive Mesa, AZ 85207

THE DATE: With the venue ready to book, we had to pick a date. We knew that we wanted something in March but were planning to just figure out what the venue had available. Our first option was March 16th (it was national Stone Cold day for all you Steve Austin fans out there (; lol) but that day was already taken. We then picked the day…….MARCH 9, 2018!!!! It felt right! My favorite number has always been 9 and that was always my number in sports. We are planning to have the ceremony at 4 PM! We are hoping to get out save the dates for everyone invited but if that doesn’t happen at least you all know the date now!

THE PHOTOGRAPHER: I was the most excited to book the photographer. Nate’s sister has an amazing sister-in-law that is an amazing photographer. We knew she was going to be our photographer from the start. We are excited to be taking our engagement photos with her on May 20th and even more excited for her to be taking our wedding photos on our special day.

Company name: Ashtyn Nicole Photography

Information on the Caterer
Company name: Robert’s Catering

OUR STORY

OUR STORY

February 11, 2017 was the day that changed my life forever, I GOT ENGAGED to my best friend.

Nathan and I met in high school and started dating our sophomore year in 2012. We were both scrawny kids with no plans other than to finish high school. We started out as best friends who lived down the street from each other. He already knew my parents and even before we started dating, they loved him.  January 20th is a day that I will never forget.

As we continued high school, I knew that this relationship was going to stick. We were saying “I love you” and spending almost everyday together. He was my best friend and I knew that I didn’t want to live without him (pretty big thing that a 17 year old knew at the time).

We did the things any high school couple did PROM! Two years in a row! As Seniors we were nominated for Prom king and queen. Although we didn’t win, he was still my king.

High school ended and we went to college. Both of us stayed at home and started going to ASU. Both of us were on the Tempe campus at the time and were able to see each other after every class (boy do I miss that). I soon decided to switch majors and moved to another campus closer to home. We didn’t have as much time together but that didn’t seem to stop us.

I decided that I was going to graduate early, a year and a half early that is. I graduated this past December with my Bachelor’s degree. Nathan was there cheering me on the whole time. He was amazing during the time of senior stress, always telling me how proud he was of me. He still does as I continue to get my Master’s.

I always knew that there would be a few days that I will always remember for as long as I live. February 11, 2017 is one of those days. Not knowing that the proposal was happening that day, I decided to chop my hair off (my mom tried to stop me without giving the surprise away). I did it anyway. It was just a normal day to begin with! It may have started like a normal day but it ended as a day that I will never forget.
